"Books" on our website

Sun, 09/20/2009 - 00:32

Our new website has the ability to put together "books" which are groupings of content pages. It would be nice to start some books which then people can add to as they see fit. This would help CEE accrue and keep knowledge over time. Ideally these books would be writable by every authenticated user (not just staff or board members) so that any person who comes to the CEE website and wants to contribute is able to do so. Following are some ideas for books. A lot of these ideas could probably be consolidated together into a couple of larger books.

Assorted nonprofit resources and information

Sat, 08/22/2009 - 22:03

The following resources provide all kinds of information helpful for nonprofit organizations.

The Nonprofit FAQ has tons of questions and answers about nonprofit organizations. It is a great first place to try when looking for answers about nonprofit organizations.

Life Cycle of a Public Charity is an IRS webpage detailing the interactions a nonprofit organization will have with the IRS during its lifecycle.

Great Masters Visual Art

Fri, 07/17/2009 - 22:02

Great Masters Visual Art was lots of fun for everyone there; Clay is a great teacher. Tim and Zach were kind enough to let us share pictures of their watercolors.

First Thoughts

Fri, 07/17/2009 - 19:32

This blog tool should be a useful tool to post some information regarding my class's content in advance, along with follow up content based on interests expressed by the students. Let's find out how this experiment works.

Haiku, You-coo, we all coo for Haiku!

Thu, 10/23/2008 - 16:41

Last Friday, at Sheridan Elementary, a group of third graders were almost jumping out of their seats when three strangers walked into their classroom. As myself, our CEE president and our seasoned Haiku presenter looked on at thirty eager faces, the teacher who was already expecting us, gave us a smile as she asked the students to guess why we were there.

Education Journey

Mon, 10/13/2008 - 17:26

My name is Jenny, and I am proud to announce that I will taking on the new position as the Explore Program Coordinator for CEE! I will be working with our presenters and teachers on coordinating schedules, along with finding new presenters for our classrooms. I hope to use this space to report back about the hands-on learning experience that CEE is bringing to classrooms around the Puget Sound. Also, as an avid browser of local news, I hope to tell you about interesting articles I find, regarding the study and importance of creative education.

Fall 2007 Saturday Institutes wrap-up

Thu, 11/15/2007 - 08:09

The Fall 2007 Saturday Institutes build upon our success last spring and seem to indicate a very positive future for the program.

From a numerical point of view, there were more than twice as many registrations over the spring series 6 months ago. The average class size was at 2/3 of capacity. Even more important was the feedback CEE received - parents and students were happy with the program and looking forward to future classes. Teachers also seemed satisfied with their classroom experience.

Back to School Night

Mon, 10/22/2007 - 03:01

In addition to working as the Explore Program Coordinator for CEE, I also volunteer at the Tacoma Art Museum(TAM). As a result, on October 1st I had the wonderful opportunity to help with Back to School Night. This is a annual event allows educators in the area to gather and learn about different educational outreach organizations (and trust me, had it not been for the late notice--CEE would have been there too--and will be next year)
